This past month, we saw a revised set of Aadhar rules. Here’s a look at what this means for a banking customer.
Firstly, now it's not mandatory (zaroori) for you to link your Aadhar card to your bank account. To aap apna account agar aadhar se link nahi karwate hai, then aap ka account band nahi kia jayega. So now, banks cannot ask their customers to link Aadhar card to their bank account. Ab apke pass koi deadline nahi hai apna Aadhar card link karne ke liye. So, you can sit back and relax.
Secondly, to open an account you can give any identity and address proof. You do not have to necessarily give Aadhar card to the bank to open a savings account. Lekin Aadhar card se agar aap apna account open karte hai, toh wo account kaafi kam time mein open kar diya jata hai. But if you open the account using any other identity or address proof, then banks verify other things which generally takes more time.
Additionally, under the new rules and guidelines, you have to link your Aadhar card to your Pan Card. Isliye jab aap Income Tax bharte hai, tab apka Pan Card Aadhar Card se linked hona chaiye.
Earlier under the Aadhar rules, your data could be used for national security purposes. Lekin ab Supreme court ne judgement pass kia hai, jisse aapka data safe hai, aur kisi ko nahi diya jayega. So, don't worry about your data being misused under the new guidelines.
