Seniors’ Guide to Enjoying Monsoons

Monsoons are just around the corner. However, this dripping climate need not stop you from having fun. You can still find plenty of fun activities to do during the rainy season.

Here are a few ways you could make the most of the monsoon season.

    • Host a Tea/Coffee Party

Invite friends into your home for a simple tea/coffee get-together. Sitting by the window, watching the beautiful rains, munching hot bhajiyas, and sipping hot masala tea/coffee with your best friends is so much fun. It doesn't matter if it drizzles or pours heavily, a single drop of water splashing on dry ground will just fill your heart with warmth and relief.

    • Go On Long Drives

Monsoon tends to bring out a different mood. Going on a long drive with friends or family during the rains is a great way to enjoy the monsoon season. This will turn out to be a lot of fun and would also help rebuild bonds with your loved ones which we tend to miss out during our everyday routine.

    • Get Creative

This is the best season to unravel the artist within you. Whether it's painting, knitting, dancing, singing, cooking, or simple photography, now is the time to explore it. While it is never too late to do the things you love, rain has its own way of inspiring you. It's one of the best times to get into creativity - when you’re a little relaxed and comfortable at home.

    • Watch A Good TV Show or a Movie

Grab the TV remote, microwave some popcorn and enjoy some entertainment at home. Spend a Sunday afternoon watching your favorite TV programs or movie. Try to watch a good comedy for a nice laugh or a nostalgic show you enjoy. Laughter is what you need on a rainy day to make up for the lack of vitamin D.

    • Go For a Weekend Getaway

For seniors travelling in monsoons is not recommended, however, if you have a few family members or friends to accompany, plan a weekend getaway at a nearby safe destination. It is the best time to explore nature, especially if you are next to the beach. Waking up to the beauty of the sea during the monsoon season would definitely have you falling head over heels for the rains.

    • Camp Indoors

Who says tents have to stay outside? If you have a good garden or a big rooftop terrace, it's easy to set up a camp for you and your family members indoors. With plenty of airbeds, pillows, and sleeping bags, followed by food and drinks, you can enjoy a good camping night with your loved ones at the comfort of your home.

    • Exercise/Meditate

Just because it’s rainy outside, it doesn’t mean that you have to stop moving! Exercise, try yoga asanas, and mediate whenever possible. It will not only strengthen your body and muscles but will also relax your mind, body, and soul.

The rainy season doesn’t have to be boring. There are many ways to keep yourself engaged throughout the day. It is a season of adventure, learning, and enjoyment. So have fun in the monsoon season, and don’t forget to take good care of yourself.

    Stay Safe! Stay Healthy!

Remember, life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain.
